Flight Status Tracking

Live departure and arrival times, delay info, gate assignments, and real-time flight position. The FlightStatusHero card explained.

Overview

The Flight tab in TCC is anchored by the FlightStatusHero card — a bold, at-a-glance display of your flight's current state. Departure time, arrival time, gate, terminal, delay status, and aircraft type — all updated in real-time from airline data feeds.

The FlightStatusHero Card

This is the first thing you see when TCC activates. It shows:

  • Flight number and airline — e.g., UA2065 United Airlines
  • Departure and arrival times — scheduled and actual (if different). Delayed flights show both times with the delay highlighted in amber or red.
  • Gate and terminal — your departure gate with terminal info. Updates live when the airline reassigns gates.
  • Aircraft type — e.g., Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner
  • Flight status badge — On Time, Delayed, Boarding, Departed, Arrived, or Cancelled
  • Delay duration — if delayed, the exact number of minutes with a reason when available (weather, air traffic, crew, mechanical)

Live Flight Position

Once your flight departs, the hero card switches to show:

  • A map with the aircraft's real-time position along the route
  • Elapsed and remaining flight time
  • Estimated arrival time (updated dynamically based on actual ground speed and winds)
  • Altitude and speed data

Status Updates

MileIntel polls airline data feeds and pushes updates as they happen. You don't need to refresh. Status changes — gate reassignment, delay increase, boarding started — appear automatically on the card and trigger push notifications if you have them enabled.

Key Details

  • Flight status data is sourced from airline operational feeds, not just schedule data
  • Position tracking begins at departure and updates every few minutes
  • The hero card adapts its color scheme: green for on-time, amber for delayed, red for cancelled
  • Gate info accuracy depends on the airline — some post gates earlier than others

Tips

  1. The hero card is designed to be readable at a glance from across a crowded gate area. The font sizing is intentionally large.
  2. If your gate shows as "TBD," don't worry. Many airlines assign gates 60-90 minutes before departure.
