Gmail Integration & Privacy
MileIntel reads booking confirmations from your Gmail to detect trips — here's exactly what it accesses and what it doesn't.
Overview
When you connect Gmail, MileIntel scans your inbox for travel-related emails — booking confirmations, itinerary updates, gate change notifications, and loyalty program statements. This is how auto-detection works. Here's the full picture on what's accessed and what's not.
What MileIntel Reads
- Booking confirmations from airlines, hotels, car rental companies, and travel agencies.
- Itinerary updates — schedule changes, seat assignments, gate changes.
- Loyalty program emails — balance updates, status notifications, promotional offers with your account details.
- Receipt emails — for expense tracking on applicable plans.
What MileIntel Does NOT Read
- Personal emails, work emails, or anything not matching travel-related patterns.
- Attachments (MileIntel only reads email body text and structured data).
- Drafts or sent mail.
How It Works
MileIntel uses Gmail's API with a query filter that targets travel-related senders and keywords. Emails are scanned server-side, parsed for structured data (flight numbers, dates, confirmation codes), and the extracted data is stored. The raw email content is not retained after parsing.
Key Details
- You can disconnect Gmail at any time from Settings > Connected Accounts. Existing trips remain — only future auto-detection stops.
- MileIntel's Gmail access is scoped to read-only. It cannot send, delete, or modify your emails.
Tips
- If a booking isn't being detected, forward the confirmation email to yourself — the re-delivery triggers a fresh scan.
