Connect Gmail for Auto Trip Detection

Link your Gmail so MileIntel can automatically detect flights, hotel bookings, and loyalty program updates from your inbox.

Overview

When you connect Gmail, MileIntel scans your inbox for booking confirmations, itinerary updates, and loyalty program emails — then turns them into trips automatically. No more manually entering flight numbers. It's the fastest way to get your travel history and upcoming trips into MileIntel.

Steps

  1. Open your Dashboard and go to Settings (gear icon in the sidebar).
  2. Navigate to the Integrations tab.
  3. Click Connect Gmail.
  4. Google will ask you to authorize MileIntel to read your email. Review the permissions and click Allow.
  5. MileIntel begins scanning for travel-related emails. Your first sync may take a minute or two depending on inbox size.
  6. Check your Dashboard — detected trips will appear automatically.

What MileIntel Reads

  • Airline booking confirmations and e-tickets
  • Hotel reservation emails
  • Loyalty program statements and status updates
  • Flight change and cancellation notifications
  • Car rental and airport transfer confirmations

What MileIntel Does NOT Read

  • Personal emails, conversations, or attachments
  • Financial statements or bank emails (unless they're travel-related credit card alerts)
  • Anything unrelated to travel

MileIntel uses targeted filters to identify travel emails by sender and content pattern. Your personal correspondence stays completely untouched.

Key Details

  • Ongoing sync. Once connected, new booking emails are detected automatically — you don't need to re-sync.
  • Historical scan. MileIntel looks back through your recent email history to find existing bookings.
  • Revoke anytime. Disconnect Gmail from Settings > Integrations, or revoke access at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

Tips

  1. Connect the Gmail account you use for booking flights. If you book through a travel agent or corporate system that sends to a different email, you can always add trips manually too.

Troubleshooting

Issue: No trips detected after connecting Gmail. Fix: Give it a couple of minutes for the initial scan. If nothing appears, make sure your booking confirmation emails are in your inbox (not in Trash or a filter that skips the inbox).Issue: A trip was detected with wrong details. Fix: Click into the trip on your Dashboard and edit the fields manually. Detection improves over time as MileIntel learns your booking patterns.
