Seat Alerts
Watch for specific seat or cabin availability on your flights. Get notified when a window seat, exit row, or business class opens up.
Overview
Seat alerts monitor your booked flights for specific seat or cabin availability. Whether you want a window seat in row 14, an exit row with legroom, or a business class cabin opening, MileIntel watches the seat map and alerts you when your target becomes available.
Types of Seat Alerts
- Specific seat — Pick an exact seat (e.g., 7A) and get alerted when it opens. Useful if you know the aircraft layout and have a preferred spot.
- Seat type — Watch for any window, aisle, or exit row in a specific cabin. Less precise but more likely to trigger.
- Cabin upgrade — Monitor for premium cabin availability, whether bookable with miles, cash, or upgrade instruments. This ties into the Upgrade Monitor for deeper tracking.
Setting Up
Open your booked flight detail, tap Watch Seats, and choose what you're looking for. Select your notification channel and MileIntel starts polling.
How Polling Works
Seat maps are checked every few hours for flights more than 3 days out, and hourly within 72 hours of departure. Airlines release held seats at different intervals — some batch-release 24 hours before departure, others trickle throughout the week.
Key Details
- Seat alerts require Navigator or higher.
- You can have multiple seat alerts on the same flight (e.g., window seat AND cabin upgrade).
- Alerts auto-deactivate after departure.
Tips
- Set seat alerts immediately after booking. The best seats get grabbed fast, but they also get released when other passengers change plans.
- Check 24 hours before departure — that's when airlines release the most held inventory.
