Delete or Archive a Trip

Remove trips you no longer need or archive completed trips. What happens to your data when you delete.

Overview

Trips accumulate. After a few months of travel, your list might include cancelled plans, completed journeys, and test entries you no longer need. You can archive trips to hide them from your active view, or delete them permanently.

Archiving a Trip

Archiving moves a trip out of your active list without destroying any data.

  1. Open the trip you want to archive.
  2. Click the three-dot menu (top-right of the detail panel).
  3. Select Archive Trip.
  4. The trip disappears from your main list but remains accessible via the Archived filter.

Archived trips still contribute to your loyalty history, expense totals, and route analytics. They just stop cluttering your active view.

Deleting a Trip

Deletion permanently removes the trip and all associated data.

  1. Open the trip.
  2. Click the three-dot menu and select Delete Trip.
  3. Confirm the deletion. MileIntel asks you to type the trip name to prevent accidental deletes.

What Gets Deleted

When you delete a trip, the following are permanently removed:

  • Trip record and all metadata
  • Attached flight segments and status history
  • Uploaded documents
  • Timeline events
  • Alert configurations
  • AI insights generated for the trip

Loyalty earning records from completed trips are retained even after deletion, since they reflect actual credited miles and status progress.

Data Retention

  • Archived trips are kept indefinitely
  • Deleted trips are purged within 30 days (there's no recycle bin)
  • If you cancel your MileIntel account, all trip data is deleted within 90 days per the privacy policy

Key Details

  • You can unarchive a trip at any time from the Archived filter
  • Bulk archive: select multiple trips from the list and archive them in one action
  • Active trips (Booked, Check-in Open, In Flight) show a warning before archive or delete

Tips

  1. Archive instead of deleting. Completed trip data is useful for pattern analysis — MileIntel uses your history to improve future recommendations.
  2. Clean up your trip list quarterly. Archive anything older than 3 months to keep your sidebar fast and focused.
