Add Flights to a Trip
Attach flight numbers and confirmation codes to your trip. Add multi-leg segments for connections and stopovers.
Overview
A trip without flights is just a plan. Adding your flight number and confirmation code is what unlocks live tracking, gate info, delay alerts, TCC activation, and everything else that makes MileIntel useful on travel day.
How to Add a Flight
- Open your trip and go to the Flights tab.
- Click Add Flight.
- Enter the flight number — for example,
DL1247orBA268. MileIntel validates the format as you type. - Enter your confirmation code (also called a PNR or record locator) — this is the 6-character alphanumeric code from your booking confirmation.
- Save. MileIntel looks up the flight in airline systems and pulls in departure/arrival times, terminals, gates, and aircraft type.
Adding Multi-Leg Segments
If your trip involves a connection, add each leg as a separate flight:
- Click Add Flight again after saving the first segment
- Enter the next flight number (e.g., first leg AA303 JFK to DFW, second leg AA1650 DFW to PHX)
- MileIntel automatically orders segments by departure time and shows connection time between legs
For return flights, add them the same way. MileIntel distinguishes outbound and return legs based on the route direction.
What Happens After Adding
Once a flight is attached with a valid confirmation code, the trip moves from Searching to Booked. From there:
- Live status tracking begins (gates, delays, cancellations)
- TCC activates when check-in opens
- Price and upgrade monitoring starts (plan dependent)
- Seat assignments are pulled if available
Key Details
- You can add flights to a trip at any time — before or after departure
- If you enter a flight number without a confirmation code, MileIntel tracks the flight generically (public schedule data only)
- Codeshare flights: enter the flight number on your ticket, not the operating carrier's number
Tips
- Always add the confirmation code. Without it, MileIntel can't access your specific booking details, seat assignment, or fare class.
- If your flight number changes (airline rebooking), update it in the Flights tab — your trip history and alerts carry over.
