Explore Destinations
Browse award availability and discover sweet-spot routes from your home airport without a specific destination in mind.
Overview
Not sure where to go? Explore flips the search model — instead of picking a destination first, you start from your home airport and browse what's available. It surfaces award sweet spots, unusually cheap fares, and destinations you might not have considered.
How It Works
- Go to Search > Explore (or tap the compass icon).
- Set your home airport and optional preferences: travel month, cabin class, region, or budget.
- MileIntel displays a grid of destinations sorted by value — the best deals appear first.
- Each destination card shows the route, best available price (cash and miles), cabin class, and a value score.
- Tap any card to run a full search for that route.
Key Details
- Explore pulls from MileIntel's route database, which tracks pricing and award availability across hundreds of routes from major airports.
- "Sweet spots" are routes where award redemptions deliver unusually high value — significantly above the program's average CPP.
- Results update based on your Wallet programs. If you have 80,000 United miles, Explore prioritizes Star Alliance routes where those miles go furthest.
- Region filters include: Domestic, Caribbean, Europe, Asia, South America, Africa, Middle East, and Oceania.
Tips
- Set your cabin class to Business and sort by miles cost to find premium cabin sweet spots. Transatlantic business class for 50,000 miles? Explore finds those.
- Check Explore regularly — award availability changes constantly, and new sweet spots appear as airlines adjust their award charts.
- Combine Explore results with the Price Calendar to find the cheapest dates for a sweet-spot route.
- If you're sitting on transferable points (Chase UR, Amex MR), Explore shows opportunities across all their transfer partners.
