Buy or Wait Indicator

MileIntel's price prediction tells you whether to book now or hold off for a better deal.

Overview

Should you book now or wait for the price to drop? The Buy or Wait indicator uses machine learning to analyze historical pricing patterns and gives you a clear recommendation for each flight.

How It Works

  1. Search for a flight. On each result, look for the Buy or Wait badge — a green "Buy Now" or amber "Wait" indicator.
  2. Tap the badge to see the reasoning: price trend direction, historical price range for this route, and confidence level.
  3. If the indicator says "Wait," MileIntel can set up a price monitoring agent to alert you when the price drops to your target.

The prediction is powered by MileIntel's Prophet-based time series model. It analyzes historical fare data for the specific route, cabin class, and travel date to forecast whether the current price is likely to go up, stay flat, or come down.

Key Details

  • Predictions include a confidence percentage. High confidence (80%+) means strong historical patterns support the recommendation. Lower confidence means the route has volatile or limited pricing history.
  • The historical price range shows the lowest and highest prices seen for this route in the past 12 months — so you know where the current price falls.
  • "Buy Now" doesn't mean it's the cheapest it'll ever be. It means prices are more likely to rise than fall from here.
  • Predictions are updated daily as new pricing data comes in.

Tips

  • Within 14 days of departure, almost every indicator will say "Buy Now" — last-minute prices rarely drop.
  • If the indicator says "Wait" with high confidence, set a price alert and check back in a few days.
  • Use this alongside the Price Calendar for the full picture: calendar shows which dates are cheap, Buy or Wait tells you whether today's price is good.
