Seat Assignments & Alerts

View your seat assignment and set up alerts for preferred seats or upgrade availability.

Overview

The Seats tab shows your current seat assignment and lets you set up monitoring for better seats. If you're hoping for an upgrade or just want to know when a window seat opens up, this is where you configure that.

Your Current Seat

When you add a flight with a confirmation code, MileIntel pulls your seat assignment from the airline's system. You'll see:

  • Seat number and cabin zone (e.g., 14A — Economy, window)
  • Aircraft type and configuration (e.g., Boeing 787-9, 3-3-3)
  • Proximity to exits, lavatories, and galleys

If no seat is assigned yet (common with basic economy fares), the tab shows "No seat assigned" with a note about when seat selection typically opens.

Setting Up Seat Alerts

Want a better seat? Set up an alert:

  1. In the Seats tab, click Watch for Better Seats.
  2. Choose what you're watching for:

- Specific seat — enter a seat number (e.g., 2A). You'll be alerted if it becomes available.

- Upgrade cabin — watch for availability in the next cabin up (Economy to Premium Economy, Business to First).

- Preferred zone — exit row, bulkhead, window, aisle — MileIntel watches for any seat matching your preference.

  1. MileIntel checks periodically and notifies you when a match opens up.

Key Details

  • Seat data comes from airline systems via your confirmation code — no seat data without a PNR
  • Alerts are sent via push notification and email based on your notification preferences
  • Seat monitoring is available on all plans; upgrade cabin monitoring requires Navigator or above
  • Seat assignments update in real-time on travel day as the airline finalizes the cabin

Tips

  1. Set upgrade alerts early. Business class seats that open up 48-72 hours before departure (operational upgrades) are your best shot.
  2. On partner-operated codeshares, seat data may be limited. Check the operating airline's app for the full seat map.
