Shared Wallet
Your household Wallet combines everyone's loyalty balances — see pooled totals and unlock better Best Path recommendations.
Overview
The Shared Wallet aggregates loyalty balances across every member of your family group. Instead of checking four separate accounts to figure out who has enough miles for an upgrade, you see the combined picture in one tab.
How It Works
When you open Wallet, you'll see two tabs: My Wallet (your personal balances) and Household (combined across all members). The Household tab shows:
- Total portfolio value — sum of all members' miles, points, and certificates valued in dollars.
- Program-by-program breakdown — each loyalty program with the individual balance per member and the household total.
- Transfer opportunities — programs that allow point transfers between household members (Chase UR, Amex MR, Marriott Bonvoy, etc.).
Best Path Impact
The Best Path engine factors in household balances when generating upgrade recommendations. If you don't have enough United miles for a business class award, but your spouse does, Best Path will suggest a transfer and show the combined path.
This only works when both members have the relevant programs in their Wallets and the program supports household transfers.
Key Details
- Each member controls which programs are visible to the group. Hidden programs don't appear in the Household tab.
- Balance data comes from each member's individual sync. If one person hasn't synced in a week, their numbers may be stale.
Tips
- Check the Household tab before any family trip. You might have enough for an upgrade you didn't know was possible.
