Extension Sync
The extension stays in sync with the MileIntel web app — wallet changes, new trips, and settings propagate automatically.
Overview
The MileIntel extension and web app share the same data. When you add a loyalty program in the web app, the extension picks it up. When the extension detects a booking on an airline site, the trip appears in your web dashboard. Here's how sync works under the hood.
What Syncs
- Wallet balances — any program you add, update, or remove in the web app is reflected in the extension within seconds.
- Trips — new trips created in either the web app or detected by the extension appear in both.
- Settings — home airport, cabin preference, and notification settings carry across.
- Plan tier — your current plan determines which extension features are active (e.g., Best Path badges require Navigator+).
Sync Timing
- Real-time for most data. The extension polls the MileIntel API every 30 seconds for updates. Changes typically appear within a minute.
- On-demand when you open the extension popup. Clicking the icon triggers an immediate sync.
- Background refresh for wallet balances, which follow your plan's sync schedule (daily, weekly, or monthly).
Key Details
- Sync requires an active internet connection. The extension caches your last-known wallet data for offline display, but valuations and recommendations need a live connection.
- If the extension shows stale data, click the refresh icon in the popup to force a sync.
- Data never flows through third parties. Extension-to-API communication is direct and encrypted via HTTPS.
Tips
- If you just updated a wallet balance in the web app and need it immediately in the extension, open the popup and wait 2-3 seconds — it syncs on open.
