Expiring Assets & Rescue Alerts

Never lose miles again. MileIntel tracks expiration dates and alerts you before points vanish.

Overview

Miles and points expire. Some programs wipe your balance after 18 months of inactivity. Others have hard expiration dates. MileIntel tracks every program's expiration policy and alerts you well before anything disappears.

How It Works

  1. Policy Tracking — MileIntel maintains an up-to-date database of expiration rules for every supported program. Some programs expire on inactivity (e.g., United — 18 months), others never expire (e.g., Delta SkyMiles), and some have fixed dates.
  2. Countdown Monitoring — For programs with activity-based expiry, MileIntel calculates your last qualifying activity date and counts down to expiration.
  3. Tiered Alerts — You get notified at three intervals:

- 90 days out — Gentle heads-up. Plenty of time to take action.

- 30 days out — Urgent reminder with specific rescue suggestions.

- 7 days out — Final warning with one-click rescue options.

Key Details

  • Rescue suggestions include low-cost actions like shopping portal purchases, dining program transactions, or small point transfers that reset the expiration clock.
  • Alerts are sent via push notification and email (based on your notification preferences).
  • Programs that never expire still show in your Wallet — they just won't trigger expiration alerts.

Tips

  • The cheapest way to reset most expiration clocks is a small shopping portal purchase — often under $5.
  • If you have points expiring soon with no travel plans, consider transferring them to a program with better expiration terms.
  • Check the expiration badge color on your asset cards regularly: green means safe, yellow means watch it, red means act now.
