Price Trends & Monitoring
Track price history on your route, see fare trends over time, and get alerts when prices drop significantly.
Overview
The Pricing tab in your trip detail shows how fares on your route have moved over time. MileIntel tracks prices from the moment you create a trip (even in Searching stage) and plots them on a chart so you can see whether fares are trending up, down, or holding steady.
The Price History Chart
The chart shows daily price data points for your specific route, cabin class, and approximate travel dates. You'll see:
- Your booking price — a horizontal reference line showing what you paid (or what the current best fare is, if you haven't booked)
- Historical range — the high and low over the tracking period
- Trend direction — whether the fare is climbing, falling, or stable
When Alerts Trigger
MileIntel monitors for price drops of $20 or more below your booked fare. When one is detected:
- You get a push notification (if enabled) and an email
- The Pricing tab highlights the drop with the new fare and the savings amount
- For airlines with price drop refund policies, MileIntel tells you whether you're eligible for a fare difference credit
Price drop monitoring runs automatically for all Booked trips. No setup required.
Airline Refund Policies
MileIntel knows the fare adjustment policies for 15+ airlines. If your airline offers credits or refunds for price drops (like Southwest or Alaska), the alert tells you exactly what to do — rebook at the lower fare and request the difference.
Key Details
- Price tracking begins as soon as you create a trip with a route — even before booking
- Monitoring runs multiple times per day
- Historical data is retained for completed trips so you can review patterns for future bookings on the same route
- Price drop alerts respect your notification preferences and quiet hours
Tips
- Create trips for routes you're considering even if you haven't committed. Price tracking starts immediately, and you'll see whether to buy now or wait.
- For premium cabins, price swings can be dramatic. A $200 drop on a $4,000 business class fare is common closer to departure.
