Program Comparisons
Side-by-side comparisons of loyalty programs — qualification, upgrades, sweet spots, and card strategy in one view.
Overview
Program comparisons put two loyalty programs side by side so you can see exactly where each one wins and loses. They're built for travelers deciding where to focus their loyalty — or curious whether switching programs makes sense.
What's Compared
Each comparison covers:
- Qualification requirements — how hard is it to earn status in each program? MQDs vs. PQPs vs. Loyalty Points, thresholds by tier, waiver options.
- Elite benefits by tier — what you get at each status level, compared head-to-head. Lounge access, upgrades, bonus earning, companion benefits.
- Upgrade mechanics — how upgrades actually work in each program. Instrument types (certificates, miles, cash co-pays), priority order, and success rates.
- Redemption sweet spots — the best-value award bookings in each program, with specific routes and cabins highlighted.
- Card strategy — which co-branded and transferable cards pair best with each program.
- Decision rules — clear, opinionated recommendations on who should choose which program based on home airport, travel patterns, and goals.
How to Use
Browse comparisons from the Learning Center or find them linked from individual program guides. Each comparison has a hero section with a quick verdict, followed by detailed section-by-section breakdown.
Key Details
- Comparisons are updated when programs make significant changes (devaluations, new elite tiers, card launches).
- A MileIntel callout at the bottom of each comparison shows how the platform helps you optimize whichever program you choose.
Tips
- If you're based at a hub for both programs (e.g., LAX for United and Delta), the comparison page will save you hours of research.
