From the Cockpit Series

Building-in-public posts from the MileIntel team — what we're building, design decisions, technical deep dives, and what's next.

Overview

"From the Cockpit" is MileIntel's building-in-public series. Published biweekly, these posts pull back the curtain on product development — what we shipped, why we made specific design choices, technical challenges we solved, and what's on the roadmap.

What Makes It Different

Unlike the main blog (which covers miles and points strategy), Cockpit posts are about the product itself. They're written for users who are curious about how MileIntel works and where it's headed. Think of it as the product team's field notes.

Topics Covered

  • Feature launches — deep dives on new features, including the problem they solve and how they work under the hood.
  • Design decisions — why the TCC uses an expanding panel, how we chose the globe visualization, what makes the Best Path algorithm tick.
  • Technical architecture — how AI agents run in the background, how shared route intelligence works, how we keep costs down with Batch API.
  • Roadmap previews — honest looks at what's coming, what got deprioritized, and why.
  • Metrics and milestones — user growth, feature adoption, and performance benchmarks shared transparently.

Structure

Cockpit posts rotate through six narrative frameworks to keep the format fresh — launch narrative, retrospective, deep dive, comparison, roadmap look-ahead, and user story. Each post anchors to a real travel news event for context.

How to Find Them

Cockpit posts appear on the main blog with a "From the Cockpit" tag. You can filter the blog to show only Cockpit posts using the tag filter.

Tips

  1. If you're a developer, designer, or product person, the Cockpit series is worth following. The technical deep dives are genuinely detailed.
