Allegiant schedules each of its new routes only two or three times a week in October, Simple Flying reports.

For travelers, the key question is whether a twice-weekly or three-times-weekly flight fits the trip. Only one route, Punta Gorda to La Crosse, Wisconsin, opens a market that Simple Flying describes as brand-new. The other routes add an Allegiant option alongside existing nonstops. For most of them, those nonstops leave from the same Florida airport. For Philadelphia and Trenton, they leave from a different Florida airport.

Filling part of Spirit's gap at Fort Lauderdale

Allegiant announced the routes on May 19, 2026, as part of an eight-route Florida package, The Points Guy reported. The eighth route, St. Pete-Clearwater to Columbia, Missouri, is scheduled to start Nov.

  1. Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood (FLL) was Spirit Airlines' home base until Spirit stopped flying in May 2026. Spirit had flown three of Allegiant's new FLL routes: Boston, Pittsburgh and Kansas City. On Boston and Pittsburgh, Allegiant now goes head-to-head with JetBlue out of FLL, according to The Points Guy.

Why the schedules are thin

Simple Flying explains that Allegiant's older Airbus A319s and A320ceos have much lower ownership costs than newer jets. That means they don't need to be flown as intensively, so the airline can concentrate flying on more popular days. Across Allegiant's network, 24% of October takeoffs and landings fall on Thursdays, against 3% on Tuesdays. Overall, citing Cirium Diio data, Simple Flying says Allegiant has scheduled an average of 359 daily movements (takeoffs and landings combined) at 122 airports in October.

Our inference: on a route with only a few weekly flights, the airline's calendar largely sets your trip length. Before weighing price against a competitor with a fuller schedule, check which days your route actually operates.

La Crosse: the one new market

Allegiant has served La Crosse only since February 2026. It started with Phoenix Mesa and added Orlando Sanford three months later. No traffic data exist for La Crosse to Punta Gorda, so Simple Flying looks at Fort Myers instead. US Department of Transportation (DOT) data show 1,551 round-trip passengers between La Crosse and Fort Myers in the 12 months to June 2026. That made it the city's second-largest unserved Florida market, after Orlando International.

For context, Simple Flying points to La Crosse–Phoenix. In January–June 2025, 996 passengers flew that market. In the same period of 2026, after Allegiant's Mesa flights began, the figure was 12,226, and the average fare fell from $303 to $112 each way, excluding taxes and add-ons.

Our inference: that is one route's history in a small market, not a forecast for Punta Gorda.

Trenton: a second try

Both outlets note that Allegiant has flown Sanford–Trenton before. For that earlier run, DOT data cited by Simple Flying show 35,339 round-trip passengers. The load factor (the share of seats filled) was 69.2%, lower than on Allegiant's other Trenton routes at the time. Simple Flying adds that the Sanford route had the lowest base fare, $32 each way excluding taxes and add-ons.

What we don't know

Neither report gives current fares for these routes, and we have not checked prices. Compare Allegiant's fares and operating days against competitors for your own dates before booking.
